Look Around and See Me…

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush,
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.
-Mary Elizabeth Frye

These words have given me comfort when I have experienced loss in my life.  Sadly, a good man, close to my family left us this week and there is a lot of sadness among us and within those that I love deeply.  I found myself repeating this today as I was running, almost as a meditative chant and felt like I needed to share.
